Usch vad bilden blev suddig... Hur som helst, jag lovade er förra veckan att visa en produkt, och detta är en av de produkter jag ska sälja i min framtida webbshop. Inte speciellt glamorös kanske, men hållbar och praktisk om man inte vill packa sin väska full med saker. Dessutom kan man använda tygkassen som en "axelväska". Längden på handtagen tycker jag verkligen är perfekt. Underbart att äntligen ha en produkt i handen och verkligen se hur den kommer att se ut. Tygkassen kommer att finnas i olika snygga färger, bland annat denna cobolt blå färgen. Så, vad tycker ni? :)

Yikes, the picture is very blurry... Anyway, I promised you last week to show a product, and this is one of the products I will sell my future webshop. Not very glamorous perhaps, but durable and practical if you do not want to pack your bag full of stuff. Moreover, you can use this bag as a "shoulder bag". I think the length of the handles is really perfect for that. Wonderful to finally have a product in my hands and really see how it will look like. The bag will be available in various great colors, including this cobalt blue color. So, what do you think? :)

Ett sätt för mig att hitta inspiration är genom att bläddra i modetidningar. Mina favoriter är STYLEBY, ELLE, CHIC och Vouge (som inte är med på bilden). Dessutom blir jag så fäst vid dem att jag samlar alla på hög, haha.

I started on this fashion illustration last night. I just wanted to show it to you before I start pinning together a bunch of fabric I need to sew.

Tar en liten lunch-paus nu och passar på att visa er denna modeteckning. Så här långt kom jag igår kväll. Eftersom jag var så jävla sämst på att rita händer igår så fick jag gömma dem bakom kroppen istället. Så kan det gå ibland.

I'm taking a little lunch break now. I will then take the opportunity to show you this fashion illustration. This is how far I got last night. Since I was so fucking useless at drawing hands yesterday, I had to hide them behind the body instead. That's the way it is sometimes.

Igår fick jag en läsarfråga om overlockning som jag tänkte svara på i ett inlägg. På bilderna ser ni hur en overlock-söm ser ut (skulle ni vilja titta närmre på en overlock-söm är det bara att titta i en vanlig H&M tröja eller liknande). Till skillnad från en zig-zack söm så har en overlock-söm 3 eller 4 trådar som "öglar" ihop sig (jag använder oftast 3 trådar). Dessutom är en overlock-söm enklare att sy. Min overlock maskin har knivar som skär i kanten precis innan nålen syr sömmen. Det leder till att overlock-sömmen alltid "överlappar" kanten (ibland kan det vara svårt att få till med zig-zack då man måste vara på alerten hela tiden och verkligen följa kanten). Eftersom overlock-sömmen "överlappar" kanten med öglor (så som ni ser på bilderna) skyddas kanten från att frasa upp. Dessutom rullar inte kanten efter overlockning, så som vissa zig-zack sömmar gör.

Jag hoppas att detta är en beskrivning som är bra nog :)

Yesterday I got a reader question about overlocking . I'll answer the question in this post. On the pictures you can see how an overlock stitch looks like (if you would like to take a closer look on a overlock stitch, just look at a typical H&M sweater or similar). Unlike a zig-zag stitch an overlock has 3 or 4 threads " (I usually use 3 threads). In addition, an overlock seam is easier to sew. My overlock machine has knives that cut the edge just before the needle sews the seam. This leads to the overlock seam always "overlapping" the edge (sometimes it can be difficult with the zig-zag where you have to be alert all the time and actually follow the edge). Since overlock stitch "overlap" the edge with loops (as you see in the pictures) it protects the edge from falling apart. In addition, an overlock seam do not roll the edge as some zig-zag stitches do.

I hope this is a description that is good enough :)

Jag har suttit och overlockat hela morgonen. För er som inte vet vad overlock är kan jag berätta att den har samma funktion som en zig-zack söm (för att hindra tyger från att frasa upp sig i kanterna), fast en overlock söm är hundra gånger bättre. Enda sedan jag gick i gymnasiet (Textil & Design) så har jag använt mig av overlock.

Hur som helst, det var inte overlock jag skulle snacka om nu. Nej, jag tänkte tipsa om boken som ni ser på bilden. 101 saker jag lärt mig i fashion school. Jag fick hem den i fredags och har läst genom hela boken. Även om jag redan visste en hel del av vad som stod i boken tyckte jag att den var rolig att läsa. Det fanns rolig historia och några konkreta tips som var intressanta. Så om ni är intresserade att gå på fashion school, vill in i modebranschen eller bara gillar mode kan detta vara en intressant och rolig bok att läsa :)

I've been sewing (overlocking) all morning. For those of you who do not know what overlock is, I can tell you that it has the same function as a zig-zag stitch, though an overlock stitch is a hundred times better. Since I was in high school (Textile & Design), I only used the overlock.

Anyway, it is not overlock I should talk about now. No, I wanted to tell you about the book you see in the picture. 101 things I learned in fashion school. I got it last Friday and have read through the whole book. Although I already knew a lot of what was written in the book, I thought it was fun to read. There were funny history and some practical tips that were interesting. So if you are interested to attend fashion school, wants to get into the fashion industry or just like fashion, this could be an interesting and fun book to read :)

I'm taking a short break from the sewing machine to blog. Sewing a sample of a product that should be in my future webshop. I feel really inspired right now :)

Idag ska jag i princip bara jobba med mönsterkonstruktion. Bloggen blir lite lidande. Men det är väl sånt man får ta när man har stora project på gång.

Igår började jag på denna modeteckning. Jag har tänkt göra en modeteckning för varje plagg som jag ska börja sälja i min framtida webshop, som ska starta inom (förhoppningsvis) ganska snar framtid. Hur som helst, eftersom jag gick på Textil & Design på gymnasiet kändes det ganska självklart att göra modeteckningar över mina plagg. Självklart ska ni få vara med under hela processen från idé till färdig produkt. Låter det bra? :)

Yesterday I started on this fashion illustration. I have thought about making a fashion illustration for each piece of clothing that I will start selling in my future webshop, which will launch within (hopefully) the near future. Anyway, since I went on Textile & Design at upper secondary school it seemed pretty obvious to do fashion drawings of my garments. Of course you shall be involved throughout the process from idea to finished product. Sound good? :)

Just nu tittar jag i olika tidningar och hittar en massa inspiration till ... kläder. Nu känner jag att det är i år som jag ska våga satsa. Så i år kommer jag att satsa på att starta eget. Som ni förstår kommer det att handla om kläder, men det betyder inte att jag kommer att släppa taget om konsten. Även min konst kommer att ha en del i min verksamhet. Hur som helst håller jag på att skissa ideér samtidigt som jag gör en marknadsundersökning och planerar för verksamheten. Jag är riktigt spänd av förväntan. Detta kommer att bli riktigt kul!

I am looking in different magazines and finding a lot of inspiration for ... clothes. Now I feel that this is the year that I should dare to bet. So this year I will invest in starting my own business. As you may understand it will be about clothes, but that does not mean I will let go of my art. My art will also have a part in my business. Anyway, I'm sketching ideas while doing a market research and planning for my business. I'm really excited with anticipation. This will be really fun!
